Spiritual Direction

Spiritual direction is a space to slow down and pay attention to your life with God. In the midst of busy schedules and competing voices, it offers a quiet, intentional rhythm of listening—helping you notice where God is present, how you are being invited to respond, and what it means to live more deeply rooted in Christ.

A spiritual director is not there to fix, advise, or lead you, but to listen with you—attentive to your story, your questions, and the movement of the Spirit in your life.

Each fall, we begin new spiritual direction groups of 3-5 people with a trained Spiritual Director. For more information about our [awaken] group spiritual direction groups, email Laurie Landry, Pastor of Spiritual Formation, at [email protected].

Additionally, we are honored to recommend these trusted community members of Warehouse 242 as Spiritual Directors open to taking on new individual directees. Reach out to one of them directly to take the next step.

Questions about Spiritual Direction? See below.

Spiritual direction is a guided conversation that helps you become more aware of God’s presence and activity in your everyday life. Through prayerful listening and reflection, a spiritual director helps you notice patterns, ask meaningful questions, and discern where God may be leading you.

It’s less about getting answers and more about growing in awareness, attentiveness, and relationship with God.

Spiritual direction can be helpful in many seasons of life, including:

  • When you feel spiritually dry, stuck, or distant from God
  • During times of transition, decision-making, or discernment
  • When you long for a deeper prayer life or spiritual rhythm
  • As you process grief, change, or unanswered questions
  • When you simply want to grow in your awareness of God’s presence

You don’t need to be in a crisis—spiritual direction is just as meaningful for those who want to deepen an already active faith.

Practices vary depending on the director and setting. Some spiritual directors charge a fee, while others offer sessions on a sliding scale or as a ministry.

At Warehouse 242, our aim is to make spiritual direction accessible and will communicate any costs clearly. If finances are a concern, we’re happy to have that conversation.

Spiritual direction typically meets once a month for about 45–60 minutes. This slower, consistent rhythm allows space to reflect on your life with God over time without feeling rushed.

Some people meet for a season, while others continue for longer periods depending on their desire and need.

While both offer meaningful space for conversation and growth, they have different purposes.

  • Spiritual direction focuses on your relationship with God—paying attention to spiritual awareness, prayer, and discernment.
  • Therapy focuses on mental and emotional health—addressing psychological patterns, trauma, and healing.

Spiritual direction is not a replacement for therapy, but the two can complement each other well.
