Participating Membership is an antidote to our commitment-phobic culture. Within a culture that approaches commitment with the attitude, “I’ll do it if I feel like it,” our approach is: “In order for our church’s mission to be accomplished, my membership is essential.” When it comes to church, the Bible leaves no room for sitting on the sidelines and watching, which is why we call it participating membership.
To be a Participating Member means discovering how God has gifted you and serving according to that gift inside our walls and beyond (1 Corinthians 12:12-31). It involves diving into relationships of high support and high challenge (Hebrews 10:23-25). It’s about moving forward in your own spiritual journey and helping others do the same. In short, to be a participating member means making the church’s mission your personal mission.
