SnowFest 2020

January 18 @ 8:00 am - January 20 @ 5:00 pm

SnowFest 2020 is a weekend of adventure, friendship, worship and ridiculous new-year frivolity is open to all middle school and high school students, as well as friends! We'll be staying at a spacious lodge in Banner Elk, arriving in time for lunch on Jan 18th and departing after breakfast on the 20th. Sking/tubing is self pay at Sugar Mountain on Saturday and Sunday, and if teens would rather stay warm at the lodge we'll have tons of games, movies, crafts and indoor/outdoor activities to keep them busy. We’ll conclude the evenings with worship and s’mores. Registration will be $135 per person. We need five adults who can chaperone (registration if waived if you volunteer). Scholarships are also available, and you can save $10 with early-bird pricing if you register by midnight on December 19th.  We hope your teens are able to join us in the worship of God by enjoying His creation!

Waging Peace in a world of trauma is one of our new core areas of action at W242. In weekly Sunday morning gatherings, we will explore how Jesus promotes the strength of non-violence and healing to be the bridge across human lines that divide. Be the Bridge is a cohort to inspire the church to have a distinctive and transformative response to racial division - to inspire the church to be present and intentional towards racial reconciliation through listening, humility, and solidarity. This Cohort will meet Sundays at 8:30am from Oct. 6 - Jan 19 except Oct. 20th, Nov. 24th, Dec. 22nd, and Dec. 29th.

Divine Conspiracy Cohort

January 19 @ 8:30 am - 9:30 am
|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every week that begins at 8:30 am on Sunday, repeating until March 15, 2020

For many of us, we can celebrate our love for Jesus but we do not have regular, healthy, honest patterns of true discipleship. Dallas Willard, in his book The Divine Conspiracy: Rediscovering our Hidden Life in God, aptly writes, “We fail to be disciples only because we do not decide to be. We do not intend to be disciples. It is the power of the decision and the intention over our life that is missing. In this cohort we will engage this brilliant book which skillfully weaves together biblical teaching, popular culture, science, scholarship, and spiritual practice, revealing what it means to "apprentice" ourselves to Jesus. Using Jesus’s Sermon on the Mount as his foundation, Willard masterfully explores life-changing ways to experience and be guided by God on a daily basis, resulting in a more authentic and dynamic faith. Worship Gathering

January 19 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am
|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every week that begins at 10:00 am on Sunday, repeating indefinitely

Every Sunday, our community gathers in a converted trucking terminal in the shadow of Uptown to learn more about Jesus, and experience vibrant community together. We meet at 10:00am and offer a full Kids Ministry for children ages 4-weeks-old through fifth grade. The Warehouse Students in 6th-12th grades join us in the arena. Warehouse is about a lot more than just a Sunday morning service, but we value that opportunity to come together for an experience that we consider distinctly “Warehouse,” when we can pursue Jesus and community authentically through music, teaching, spoken word, and visual art.
