The Skinny: February 2, 2020
HEADLINES & SUNDAY ANNOUNCEMENTS
Saturday, February 8, 2020 ~ 9:00am-11:00am
You’re invited to the Warehouse women’s breakfast! Please join us Saturday morning February 8 from 9-11 at Community Matters Cafe as we gather to enjoy yummy food and the company of each other. Please RSVP to this even so we can prepare seating. (You’re on your own for breakfast costs; but we’ll cover the company and great conversation!)
HOSPITALITY TEAM MEETING
Sunday, February 23, 2020 ~ 11:30am-12:30pm
It is not too late to join! For many of us, we can celebrate our love for Jesus but we do not have regular, healthy, honest patterns of true discipleship. Dallas Willard, in his book The Divine Conspiracy: Rediscovering our Hidden Life in God, aptly writes, “We fail to be disciples only because we do not decide to be. We do not intend to be disciples. It is the power of the decision and the intention over our life that is missing.
FOLLOW SERIES COMMUNITY READING PLAN
Join us each week as we dive deeper into the book of Mark. To go along with the new series, we’ve created a great community Bible reading plan. In this time between Christmas and Easter, we’re going to journey through Mark’s Gospel together and explore the vast terrain between Jesus’ birth and resurrection. In doing so, our hope is that we would come to know Jesus in a deeper way and respond resolutely to the call to follow him.
Our elementary kids are reading Mark along with the adults! Take time to read through Mark as a family and consider using different versions of the Bible. We are hopeful for some good conversations happening as you engage the scripture together!
Have you heard that we have transitioned to a preschool model for our 1 year olds and up? That means that kids won’t move up to the next classroom until the new school year. Our hope is that this will build community and consistency for teachers and kids as they track together and help us to build classroom norms for our 3s, 4s and 5s as they engage in curriculum together.
Our final tally for coins and cash collected for Pennies for Pancakes was $1,385.61! Fun fact to share with your kids – the 8,532 coins weighed 60 pounds! We are excited to support many children through Hope for Kids Zimbabwe with these funds.
EXPECTANT MOTHER CARE TEAM
The hope of the Expectant Mother Care team is to come alongside families in our community as they are expecting through pregnancy, fostering or adoption. Our desire is to be present in the waiting, struggles, fears and celebrations. Join our team to help provide practical support and care. Expecting? Let us know! We’d love to support you.
NEW BUILDING & GROUNDS VOLUNTEER TEAM
Do you like to get your hands dirty? Do you love our home at 2307 Wilkinson Blvd? Our new building & grounds team will be available to tackle various odd jobs around our building and grounds (simple repairs, grounds maintenance, minor painting, etc.) outside of our annual Building Beautiful Days. If you are interested in helping to keep our building hospitable, comfortable and safe for our visitors, members and children, please contact Bob Gluck.
JOIN A SMALL GROUP
Small Groups have one simple purpose: to bring people together. We believe God created us to live in relationship with others and only then can we live the full life He intends for us. Sharing life through community is part of our design, but meaningful relationships aren’t always easy to find. That’s why Small Groups exist – to make these life-changing relationships relevant and accessible to you.
STUFF YOU SHOULD KNOW
At the end of every month we send out an email letting you know what we’ve got coming up. If you’d like to be on that list, email Cameo Carter.
