The Skinny: November 24, 2019
Headlines & Sunday Announcements
Sunday, December 1, 8, 15, & 22 ~ 8:30am-9:30am
During this season of expectation, we have an opportunity to bring our longings and requests before God and each other. Join us for one or more Sunday mornings during Advent as we gather to pray and experience our God who is closer than we think.
WOMENS ADVENT WREATH MAKING EVENT
Tuesday, December 3, 2019 ~ 7:00pm-9:00pm
We have a beautiful tradition in our community of gathering before the season of Advent to build advent wreaths. An advent wreath is a table-top wreath that holds candles that will be lit each week as Advent progresses to mark the coming of Christ and our expectant waiting.
We will gather to create our own wreaths (instructions and supplies provided!) that can become a visual reminder of what we are waiting for in the season. And as our eyes are drawn to the light of the wreaths on our tables, may our eyes be drawn to the Light surrounding us. Since we will gather in various homes across the city, once you register you will be informed which host home to attend.
THE MANIFESTO WORKSHOP: CRAFTING A RULE OF LIFE
Saturday, December 7, 2019 ~ 9:00am-4:00pm
The Manifesto Workshop is about Crafting A Rule Of Life In An Age Of Busyness and Distraction. It will help identify and clarify our personal core values, discern and articulate a vision about who you are, what you value most, and help you establish practices and rhythms to live more intentionally and more fully into your highest priorities.
Saturday, December 14, 2019 ~ 3:00pm-7:30pm
Please sign up to volunteer alongside the Changed Choices community for a time of rest and celebration at the annual Advent Banquet hosted at Warehouse 242. This is a time of welcoming each other through friendship, solidarity, music, good food, children’s crafts, and a time of hope and healing with families affected by incarceration. Contact Kathi Graves with questions.
CHRISTMAS EVE SERVICE
Tuesday, December 24, 2019 ~ 3:30pm-6:00pm
Join us on Christmas Eve for an evening of music, art, reflection, and community as we remember and celebrate the birth of Jesus. Our evening starts at 3:30pm in the coffee room and gallery with a social hour filled with treats and Christmas music. Check-in will open at 4pm for infants through 4-year-olds who will have their own care and program. The main service starts at 4:30pm in the arena, and elementary kids are invited to join their parents. Come with the whole family and bring some friends to celebrate the season together!
