The Skinny: August 11, 2019

Headlines & Sunday Announcements

During our “242” teaching series, we are revisiting our founding verses in Acts 2:42-47 and exploring how the Spirit is leading us to improvise life together today. Part of this life together involves radical generosity toward those in need, so during the months of August and September, we are praying for 242 people to give $242 to our benevolence fund. This fund is used in beautiful ways to care for those in need both within and outside our church community, and we are excited to continue doing so in transformative ways. To contribute $242 to this campaign, text 242 BEN to 704-445-5242 or visit our giving page and select “Benevolence” from the drop-down menu.

Friday, August 16, 5pm – Sunday, August 18, 2pm

Urban Camp-In is an amazing opportunity for rising middle and high schoolers, both within the family of Warehouse and their friends, to develop their spiritual lives and their creative pursuit of justice. This year, we’re doing that through hands-on workshops led by Warehouse folks, an urban excursion to Charlotte’s 24-7 prayer room, and powerful formational worship and teaching experiences. We’re exploring what it means for youth to incorporate their whole selves as they grow toward being completely committed to the Kingdom of God. For more information contact Henry.

W242: August 18, 2-4pm

As part of our core commitment of caring for resilient youth, Warehouse is hosting an event on August 18 with Congregation for Kids.  CFK pairs youth in foster care with trained mentors.  Volunteers needed for event and activity set up and to greet the youth and mentors.  Must be 18 to volunteer. Please email Mary Louise Wilson directly.

Sunday, August 25, 11:30am @ Warehouse242

Let’s gather after church to break bread and enjoy each other’s company. Bring your whole family and stay for Crockpot and Salad Meal. We are looking for people to bring food, so if you are interested in signing up click here.

Friday, September 13, 7pm-10pm @ W242

Warehouse 242 is turning 20!  We are celebrating the church through an evening of visual art, fun, stories, music, movement, and connecting with old friends and new. The festivities include an opening reception for “Works of the Body,” a collaborative visual arts exhibit from current and former members. Drop by for an hour or stay the whole evening, and we look forward to celebrating with you!

Movement School: Friday-Sunday, September 27-29

W242 is honored to participate in Freedom Cities Awakening – a weekend of collaborative outdoor services at Movement School on September 27-29. Ultimately, this is about city-wide restoration and awakening of families, communities, and churches through Spirit-led revival. We all need to be revived or re-invigorated, and there many ways to participate from prayer to clean-up to being present as friends and neighbors, so check how you can get involved.

To learn more, all are invited to join the next two Information Rallies:

Thursday, September 12 at 7:00 pm
Christ Resurrection Church (4527 Freedom Drive Charlotte, NC 28208)
