The Skinny: September 10, 2017

Headlines & Sunday Announcements

September 17, and 24

Now that summer is over we’re excited to be able to focus on the year to come here at Warehouse! Our staff and elders have been praying and listening to discern God’s vision for our city and the role that our church plays in it. Over the next 2 weeks we’ll be unpacking that vision for you in some exciting ways!

On September 17 and 24 we’ll share with you what we’ve got planned for the upcoming year. We will be diving deeper into our core commitments of Truth, Creativity, Justice, and Community, offering real and specific ways we can explore, grow, and invest in God’s kingdom inside our walls, in our city, and in the world.

Kids will check-in as usual on these days, and will be dismissed to their classrooms after the first time of worship.

We partner with By Grace Alone Ministries as they continue the long-term development of the Fuente de Vida project near Santo Domingo. This involves strengthening the capacity of local leaders to bring urgent medical assistance, educational development, small business startups, and pastor training opportunities to materially poor neighbors. Through short-term listening trips, Warehouse 242 has the opportunity to experience the project firsthand and experience global development while learning with and from local Dominican leaders who know the communities best.

There is a DR Team kickoff meeting on Wednesday, September 20 @ 6:30pm. Childcare will be provided, but you need to let us know you’re coming! For more information on how to be involved, email [email protected].

October 20-22 @ Montreat

It’s almost that time again. Time to pack it up and head to the mountains of North Carolina. Our annual fall retreat, October 20-22, is a unique time of connection with God and each other in the wilderness of the greatest state in the Union. This year we are excited to announce a repeat appearance by one of our most dynamic guest speakers – Matt Bradner.  Matt is an author, catalyst communicator, and leader that ignites others towards health in all aspects of their lives. And, he’s just an all around positive, cool, fun guy. You want to be there. We want you to be there. But, alas, space is limited.

So, don’t blow it. All it takes is $50 to secure your spot. Registration with early bird pricing is now open. The price of the retreat is $145, but only until September 19. After that  the price goes up to $160! Registration closes and full payment is due on October 9.

If you have questions or need more info about payment options and scholarship opportunities, contact Brent Howell at [email protected]

We continue to pray for all those affected by the unprecedented impact of Hurricane Harvey in Houston, TX.

For those who are able to help, we’re strongly encouraging a collective effort with our sisters and brothers at Ecclesia Church. Ecclesia is located in the heart of Houston, and they are dear friends of Warehouse 242.

Relief organization are currently inundated with supplies. What they really need is money. Ecclesia is committed to stewarding our donations of cash in ways that will be most helpful for those affected.

Stuff You Should Know

You guys! You did it! All of the uniform items that were available online have been purchased! That is fantastic. Thank you for once again coming through and helping the Ashley Park scholars focus on learning and not on what they’re going to wear!

Here are some other ways you can get involved:

> Link your Harris Teeter VIC Card to Ashley Park PreK-8 School. They need to be re-linked each school year!

> Join the care team: In partnership with Center City Church, Warehouse is committing to care for the staff and teachers in many creative ways!

> Become a Reading Buddy to a kindergartener! The commitment is each Wednesday from 11:30-12:15 at Ashley Park. The first step is campus pre approval and then signing up for Active Reading Training on either September 11 at Warehouse 242 (5-6:30pm) or September 12 at the SouthPark campus of Forest Hill Church (5:30-6pm). For more information email Marc Dickmann.

>Donate items for the Ashley Park Greater Enrichment Program. Drop them off in the barrels at Kids Check-In and in the arena.
