The Skinny: August 27, 2017

Headlines & Sunday Announcements

August 28 @ 7AM / Ashley Park School

Calling all Warehouse folks who love Ashley Park School! Monday is the first day of class for these scholars, and we have the opportunity to play a role in welcoming them back. The staff there would love it if a bunch of us showed up at 7am this coming Monday to line the sidewalks and cheer the kids on as they get off the buses. We’ll be done by 8am, so you’ll still be able to make it to work on time. Oh yeah, they’ll be serving breakfast, too. Let’s start this school year off in a noisy, encouraging way for these awesome kids!

Sunday, September 3

Next Sunday we’ll wrap up our movie series with Hail, Caesar! As we continue to explore how movies are not just entertainment but are also prayers, we’ll examine how this film is a prayer of confession. It’s available on youtube, iTunes, and Google Play.

Sundays on the Dock @ W242

Fresh and locally grown produce will be for sale (cash, credit, EBT) on Sunday mornings at Warehouse. Mr. Bernard Singleton, a long time resident and community leader, leads Bennu Gardens of @cejsorganicfarms CEJS Organic Farms in West Charlotte.

It’s an honor to host Mr. Singleton and his team. Swing by the loading dock on Sunday or learn more about Bennu Gardens HERE.

September 10, 17, and 24

Now that summer is over we’re excited to be able to focus on the year to come here at Warehouse! Our staff and elders have been praying and listening to discern God’s vision for our city and the role that our church plays in it. Over 3 weeks in September we’ll be unpacking that vision for you all in some exciting ways!

On September 10 we’ll once again come together as an entire community for one service at 10am. During this time we’ll get to worship together with our friends and families, and get a peek into one of our key Sunday morning ministries. Stick around afterwards for delicious food from two food trucks, Plated Palette and Magnolia’s Poboys!

On September 17 and 24 we’ll share with you what we’ve got planned for the upcoming year. We will be diving deeper into our core commitments of Truth, Creativity, Justice, and Community, offering real and specific ways we can explore, grow, and invest in God’s kingdom inside our walls, in our city, and in the world.

Stuff You Should Know

You guys! You did it! All of the uniform items that were available online have been purchased! That is fantastic. Thank you for once again coming through and helping the Ashley Park scholars focus on learning and not on what they’re going to wear!

Here are some other ways you can get involved:
> Link your Harris Teeter VIC Card to Ashley Park PreK-8 School. They need to be re-linked each school year!
Join the care team: In partnership with Center City Church, Warehouse is committing to care for the staff and teachers in many creative ways!
> Become a Reading Buddy to a kindergartener! The commitment is each Wednesday from 11:30-12:15 at Ashley Park. The first step is campus pre approval and then signing up for Active Reading Training on either September 11 at Warehouse 242 (5-6:30pm) or September 12 at the SouthPark campus of Forest Hill Church (5:30-6pm). For more information email Marc Dickmann.
>Donate items for the Ashley Park Greater Enrichment Program. Drop them off in the barrels at Kids Check-In and in the arena.
