The Skinny: August 6, 2017

Headlines & Sunday Announcements

August 06 @ 12:30pm & August 09 @ 7PM / The Coffee Room

Come meet Nate Ledbetter, our new Service and Justice Pastor, in this time of welcome, questions, answers, and community. We’ll gather with Nate and his wife Melissa to learn more about their story and his hopes for the future of service and justice partnerships at Warehouse. Heavy snacks and drinks will be provided on Sunday, and childcare will be provided both days.

August 7-9
God has great plans for Warehouse Students, to enlarge our capacity and imagination for service, and to help our group coalesce around new and revitalized friendships.
Therefore all students (rising 6th through 12th grade) are invited to participate in a three-day service, creativity, and fellowship event, beginning Monday August 7 and concluding on Wednesday Aug 9th. The event will not run overnight. The registration will be $20 per student. Three meals (two lunches, one dinner), and supplies for crafts and games are included in the price. Drop off will be at 9:00am on Monday and Tuesday with pickup at 4:30pm. Monday drop off will be at Ashley Park PreK-8. Tuesday drop off will be at Warehouse. Wednesday drop off will be at Center City Church at 11:30am with pickup at 8:30 that evening.
Please email [email protected] with questions, or if you would like to sign up to carpool students from the service projects back to Warehouse in the afternoon.

Thursday, August 10 / 7-10pm

Join us on Thursday, August 10th from 7:00 – 10PM for River Jam, the USNWC’s weekly concert series. Music from the band Ancient Cities provides the perfect back drop for a fun summer evening outdoors. Bring a chair or blanket, enjoy the facility’s large food and beverage selection, and take in the sights and sounds of River Jam.

There is no admission charge, but it is $5/car to park. Gather a group and carpool!

Stuff You Should Know

There are some families with scholars at Ashley Park School that struggle to purchase their required uniforms or, in some cases, to have the means to launder the ones they do have. You can help! We have set up a Target Registry where you can purchase uniforms and have them shipped directly to Warehouse. Having clean clothes to wear seems so basic, but it’s a luxury most of us take for granted. Let’s fill the clothing pantry at Ashley Park so that none of the students there need to worry about that.

Here are some ways you can get involved:
> Link your Harris Teeter VIC Card to Ashley Park PreK-8 School
Join the care team whose job it is to encourage and support the faculty and staff at Ashley Park
Mentor a student in reading.
>Donate items for the Ashley Park Greater Enrichment Program. Drop them off in the barrels at Kids Check-In and in the arena.
