Resilient Summer Movie Series
We talk about movies every summer because of how pervasive they are in our cultural consciousness. They provide a painfully clear glimpse into the world around us, and they open the door to hard conversations about how God is pursuing us in all of this. We’re aware that people are talking about these movies, and that you will have the chance to enter that conversation and invite friends and co-workers into our honest talks about the films.
To be clear: we’re not screening these movies inside Warehouse, and we’re not endorsing their content. In fact, we’re pretty horrified by some of what happens in these stories — but we’re aware that people are talking about them, and that you will have the chance to enter that conversation and invite friends and co-workers into our honest talks about the films.
This summer, we’re looking at four strikingly-different films from the last year that share a strangely-common theme.
AUGUST 07 / MOVIES
AUGUST 14 / THE MARTIAN
AUGUST 21 / CREED
AUGUST 28 / ROOM
SEPTEMBER 04 / INSIDE OUT
All four films tackle themes common to our humanity and relevant to following Jesus, such as perfection, isolation, joy, loneliness, and hope – but they all explore them though the lens of human resiliency.
Lets look at how their stories impact us and our lives.
