Maybe you are familiar with the word “Advent”, or maybe you aren’t. Maybe the word calls to mind more to DO during the holiday season: calendars, countdowns, elves, glitter, ahhh!!!
But simply, the word “Advent” in Latin, means “coming.” And the Advent season is the time before Christmas—Christ’s coming to Earth.
We have a beautiful tradition in our community of gathering before the season of Advent to build advent wreaths. An advent wreath is a table-top wreath that holds candles that will be lit each week as Advent progresses to mark the coming of Christ and our expectant waiting.
We will gather to create our own wreaths (instructions and supplies provided!) that can become a visual reminder of what we are waiting for in the season. And, as our eyes are drawn to the light of the wreaths on our tables, may our eyes also be drawn to the Light surrounding us.
So, we invite you to join us for a festive evening on Wednesday, November 28 from 7-9pm to connect with women who live in your area as we build wreaths to use in our own homes during Advent.
Since we will gather in various homes across the city, once you register you will be informed which host home to attend.
