In the Native American tradition, Tuckaseegee can be defined as “Muddy Turtle.” This sparked the idea of Muddy Turtle Talks, which is a way to encourage community members to preserve their stories and history through a process of story sharing.
Charlotte is in the middle of a housing crisis. Every day we hear stories about gentrification and forced displacement, especially on the west side. This event sheds an interesting light on those who are heavily impacted.
Join us this black history month for our second live showing of Muddy Turtle Talks. This time, we will share brand new stories that are all focused on the human experiences surrounding forced displacement and erasure of one of Charlotte’s historically black neighborhoods.
After live stories are shared, we will engage in a very important community conversation on this issue and the systems that contribute.
Tickets are free, but you’ll need one to get in. You can get yours HERE.
